Sons, not slaves….

Let me bless your library…..

I’m currently reading Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Sonship by Jack Frost and this book is wrecking my life. The book mainly discusses how most believers are born with an orphan heart; Born with the fear of trusting, fear of rejection, fear of opening our hearts to love and intimacy, and so on….

We’ve ALL experienced these fears that  I mentioned above in ways we don’t realize. Being born with an orphan heart impacts our relationships, life decisions, and careers and most importantly our relationship with God. It wasn’t until the past few years  in my relationship with God that I grasped the understanding of being a son and trusting God as my father. It’s such a powerful revelation about your true identity in Christ. You realize the power you were born with and how God has already equipped you to do great things in the earth. I could go on and on about this topics  but I want you to meditate on this scripture….

“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” – Romans 8:14,15

This is scripture the basis of the book. EVERY believer should read it!

The Great Commandment…..

Any who, I had to introduce the book before I dug into the powerful quote that stood out while I was reading. It reads stated,

“The Great Commandment to love God and love others is a call to intimacy; the Great Commission to go and make disciples is a call to fruitfulness. Intimacy is to precede fruitfulness. The Great Commandment must precede the Great Commission and is an inseparable part of it. When intimacy does not precede fruitfulness, we easily become subject to our own mission and become focused upon religious duty, hyper-religious activity, and aggressive striving that leaves an angry edge in our life and relationships. “ – Jack Frost

Y’all…this is powerful. I already knew that my number one purpose in life is to be a vessel for God’s glory to be revealed in the earth. Secondly, it’s to go and make disciples. According to the quote, before I dive into the great commission, I MUST pursue intimacy with Christ. We can not miss this important step. It’s like going on a mission without the details of your assignment. It’s like starting a new job without gaining a relationship with your boss. How do you know which directions to go?

Pursue Intimacy…..

Intimacy is vital…..This is the  first step to the father’s mission…

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” – Matthew 22:37

Before God uses you to impact people for his glory through your business, in the classroom, on your jobs, in your community and so on, he has to groom you in the secret place. This is where you’ll find the details of your specific assignment for the Great Commission. Get to know the father. He’s waiting to pour into you!

“All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” – John 16:15
