National Financial Literacy Month!

Happy National Financial Literacy Month!

In March 2004, The United States Senate passed a bill that designated April as National Financial Literacy month. Financial institutions and nonprofits organization around the world are hosting events, workshops, and providing educational resources that promote effective money management and debt resolution strategies.

This month I’m dedicating all of my post, periscopes, tweets and other social media platforms towards to promoting financial tips, books, testimonials, articles, podcast, etc.

Here are some goals that I am personally committing to this month and you should join me. Don’t be an April Fool! #FinLit

Commit to One financial Goal

If you have a monthly budget, then great. You already have one financial goal in place which is to NOT go over your set budget. However, maybe you want to create an travel fund, do a spending freeze, or pay down a small credit card. Pick  one goal that’ll help you break a habit or create avenues to bring in or save more money

My financial goal for April is to bring in an extra $1000 ($250 a week) a month by driving Lyft. Lyft offers a $500-$750 sign-on bonus for your first 100 rides. This is easy money.

So far I have not encountered any crazies. I know that’s what you’re wondering.

Read One Financial Book

Pick a financial  book to read this month. I am going to read Jesus’ Terrible Financial Advice: Flipping the Tables on Peace, Prosperity, and the Pursuit of Happiness. I love to read books that share God’s perspective on money. Plus the title of this book sounded very interesting.

Each One Teach One

Share your financial knowledge with a friend, spouse, your kids, etc.  Pass the information on to the next person that you know could really use it. Also, there are opportunities for you to volunteer with organizations as a financial educator  such as Junior Achievement, National Financial Education Council, your local church or community center, etc.

“When you learn it, teach it. When you get it, give it!”

Peace & blessings,

Chelsa
