Happy New Year!
If you’re reading this, congratulations! You survived 2020.
I know that many of us are in goal setting/planning mode for 2021 (or some of you started last year). To be honest, it doesn’t feel like a new year yet. That’s probably because of the uncertainty of this never ending pandemic. Even though the year feels that same I FEEL DIFFERENT. I’m not the person to declare “New Year New Me” every year. However, I feel like a better, stronger, and more confident version came out of 2020. Look, 2020 wasn’t all that bad. She stressed us out but there was some good.
One of the things I like to do for the new year is give it a theme. I chose a word(s), phrase, or make up my own quotes that serve as a motivation for going after my goals for the year. I encourage you to do the same thing for 2021. Last year, my word was “BUILD.” In 2020, I built tangible and intangible things. I built stronger relationships within my inner circle, built an advanced online training course with my colleagues for work, I built a system for self-care (i.e. therapy, scheduled me-time, exercising, etc.), and I BUILT MY OWN BLOG PAGE. Okay, I didn’t mean to yell but I’m very proud of myself for re-launching this blog. One day I will tell the story of how I got here because it was a journey. Lastly, God did a work in my confidence. He tore down negative beliefs I had about myself and re-built areas in my self-esteem. I really feel different! **Ugly cry**
“I’m building something bigger than me”
One word that has been in my spirit for the past few weeks is “LEGACY.” I spent the last several days fasting and praying just to hear from God concerning this new year. I saw a POWERFUL Instagram post followed by an even more powerful video declaring the phrase, “Do it for your last name!” That phrase stuck out to me. It caused me to ponder on the fact that my goals aren’t just goals. I’m building something bigger than me. Something that will outlive me and I’ll be able to pass on to my children’s children.
Generational Blessings….#MooreLegacy
I was deleting old Instagram pictures and came across this post I dedicated to my great Grandfather Ferdinand Moore. As he picture states. he was a pioneer, a farmer, earned $2000 in 3 years (that sound like a lot of money in the 1890s), and I’m sure did much more. It sounds like my great grandfather was a businessman. You all already know how I feel about passing down “Generational Blessings” to the next generation.

The scripture under this post from April 2017 is Psalm 112:1-3. It reads:
“Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands. Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed. They themselves will be wealthy, and their good deeds will last forever.”
I love discussing legacy and generational wealth. I’m going after my goals for the next year, decade and so on with my legacy in mind. I’m doing this for my last name! I hope you create goals that are bigger than you. What is your word or phrase for 2021? Share them in the comments!
Sincerely,
Chelsa
