Women’s History Month: Celebrating Tabitha Brown!

Hey ya’ll! It’s the last day of Woman’s History Month and I am highlighting someone who is a household name, a symbol of positivity, love, and faith. The one and only Tabitha B. Brown.

Tabitha Brown is an author, actress, wife, mom, and my personal life coach *in My head*. #IYKYK  If you ever watched a TikTok or quick motivational Instagram post from Tabitha Brown, then you know she always shares a message that reaches your soul, gives you a laugh, sparks your wanna-be vegan tastebuds, or boosts your faith. She exudes positivity and is such a light in this sometimes dark social media world. The world has seen Tabitha’s career accelerate. Our good sister Tab is in her BAG. She has sold out Target collections for food, furniture, clothes, offices, etc. She also has The wonderful Donna’s Recipe (hair care), Friday’s with Tab & Chance podcast, New York Bestseller books, Tab Time on youtube, and so much more. Tabitha Brown is history and I celebrate her.

She chased her dreams until her dreams chased her…….

I got a chance to sit down with Tabitha Brown for an interview and……..Just kidding. I didn’t talk to Tab. However, when she posts a video on IG, I talk back to her in the comments section. In all seriousness, Tabitha recently did an interview on the Earn Your Leisure podcast and it was great. I’ve listened to Tab’s story in countless interviews and through her first book, “Feeding the Soul (Because It’s My Business)”, and it inspires me every time. Tab’s career was not an overnight success. Through ups, downs, and breaks, it took over 20 years for her dream to come to fruition. Just like her, many of us have had moments in our journey when life happens and we put our dreams on hold for some time. What I love about Tabitha’s story is that she never stopped ignoring the call. She put in the work and treated every small opportunity like it was her big break. She chased her dreams until her dreams started chasing her. All the opportunities that Tab dreamed of have come her way: Acting, fashion, book deals, and more. We get to see the harvest of her seasons of persistence and faith. Go Tab!!!

Mixing faith and business

I enjoyed Tabitha’s interview on EYL because the host asked deep questions about her faith and how it impacts her businesses. One thing I LOVE about Tabitha is that she does not shy away from her faith. I believe that her faith (coupled with works) is her not-so-secret to her “recipe” for success. There was a moment during the EYL episode when she explained the various ways she hears from God audibly, through her dreams, visions, and inner knowings. God’s voice has guided her throughout her life and career. I thought this was cool for her to openly share this on a secular podcast. Tabitha shared a story of how one time God audibly spoke to her in a thunderous voice saying, “This is not the life that I planned for you!” Some listeners may be shocked by this but many of us who have a personal relationship with God can relate. The supernatural is very real and God speaks in many ways. Tabitha continued to explain how God would tell her to be herself (i.e. wear he natural hair #MsDonna and don’t hide her accent), make videos even when only a few people are watching, and he would give her specific messages to share on her social media platforms. She was obedient to his voice even when it didn’t make sense. One of the hosts stated to Tabitha saying,  “You create businesses based on who you are and being obedient to God!” This is powerful. I pray that the listener’s curiosity prompts them to seek God and learn how to hear from him. I’m inspired to trust those nudges and write down dreams and visions that I receive regarding ideas and other things because 9 times out of 10 it’s God speaking.

A few keys I took away from Tabitha’s testimony:

**Chase your dreams until your dreams are chasing you. #DontGiveUp**

**Trust God when he tells you to do something because it will all make sense one day. #ObeyGod**

** Show up as your full self always. #BeYou **

Sincerely,

Chelsa

P.S. Check out the EYL episode on youtube below and grab her book to hear more of her story. (I HIGHLY recommend downloading the audible version since it’s narrated by Tabitha. Let it bless your life for 6 hours. \(^.^)/)
